Building our chicken coop part 2: "So What If We Moved the Chicken Coop to...umm. Over Here?"
When we last saw our hero, "Old Head" he was working diligently at building a chicken tiki hut. A lot of progress has been made and every chance he has gotten to, he has been working on getting it done. Lots of creative thinking and reworking ideas: no wait, this will work better or coming up with the best ways to do that...a few sliced, punctured and drilled digits and the homestead is well on the way to having a chicken coop, complete with a natural, outdoorsey decor!
Wire mesh to keep predators out of the chicken coop - I mean hut. (we hope)!
Plus a fearless guard dog, ready and reporting for duty, sir!
The interior - quite cozy, isn't it? Can't you just see "Ole' Jack" roosting in one of those rafters, watching over his harem (I mean flock)
Old Head, showing off the progress so far. (It's looking so awesome!)
Canvas roof over tar paper (over chicken wire)
Trimming the roofing paper.
Finishing the edges of the roof.
Painting
Painting (more)
The green floor
The hut on the Serengeti
A door to secure everything.
And, although not completely complete, we are ready to put in a few chickens.
Time to get ready to cluck!
Awww - look! It's Lily's (the truck) first "load" of hay.
To be continued...
